| CBES Day Skipper | The syllabus arms skippers and crew alike with the essential boating and safety knowledge required to go to sea. | 15 hours. The basics on the boat, navigation, rules and regulations, emergencies, knots. | None |
| CBES Boatmaster | Enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights, weather and IRPCS is also included. | 30 hours. To provide detailed boating knowledge on equipment, emergencies, navigation, boat handling, rules and regulations, ropes. | Knowledge equivalent to the CBES Day Skipper course. Some practical experience desirable. |
| CBES Marine VHF Radio | To be able to correctly use a marine VHF radio in routine and emergency situations. | 6 hours. 1. Principles of maritime radio communications, 2. Distress, Urgency and Safety Communications procedures, 3. Protection of distress frequencies and avoidance of false distress alerts, 4. Obligatory procedures and practices, 5.
