MCA / RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and Coastal Skipper Qualifications

We provide courses that will help you obtain your MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Offshore Commercial Qualifications for either Sail Cruising or Motor Cruising.

MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Qualification

Allows the holder to skipper a yacht up to 24 metres in length up to 150 nautical miles from a safe haven.

Prerequisites: In order to undertake the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore exam you will have to have all the following prerequisites. Please let us know if you do not have any of the prerequisites as we can help you achieve them.

Minimum Seatime requirements:

1. 50 days seatime
2. 2500 nautical miles seatime on yachts with at least half in tidal waters
3. 5 passages of over 60 miles or more including 2 overnight and 2 passages that you have skippered yourself
4. 5 days as skipper

Compulsory qualifications (required before sitting the exam):

1. Recognised Marine VHF Radio certificate
2. Recognised First Aid certificate which must be in date (generally expire after 2 years)

Requirements for the Commercial Endorsement (optional)

1. Recognised Advanced Sea survival certificate
2. MCA or MNZ Seafarers Medical Certificate

MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper Qualification

Prerequisites: In order to undertake the RYA Coastal Skipper exam you will have to have all the following prerequisites. Please let us know if you do not have any of the prerequisites as we can help you achieve them.

Minimum Seatime requirements:

1. 30 days seatime
2. 800 nautical miles seatime with at least half in tidal waters
3. 2 days as skipper
4. 12 night hours

Compulsory qualifications (required before sitting the exam):

1. Recognised Marine VHF Radio certificate
